Ponyo: Against Humanity. This video analyzes the ecogical themes of Ponyo. I focus on Fujimoto’s anti-human worldview, which separates nature from humanity, and which sees humanity as an enemy of nature that therefore needs to be destroyed. I believe that the story of Ponyo, considered as a whole, seeks to critique Fujimoto’s worldview, by showing the viewer that humanity cannot really be separated from nature, because we are a part of nature. And so if humanity harms the natural world, that rea
