Following the Stonewall Inn riots of 1969, the LGBTQ community organized the first Pride parade to take place on June 28th, 1970. In 1981, Police raided Toronto bathhouses and arrested over 300 men. Mass protests and rallies followed, which was the impetus for Toronto's first Pride week.
