ON THIS DAY in Jaws history, Alex Kintner was killed by a large shark off Amity Island public beach. All that was left was Alex's deflated and torn raft. No remains were ever found. Local resident Jeffrey Voorhees played the hapless Alex. The shark attack was originally going to feature the shark much more but the production crew couldn't get the shark working as well as needed (see photo below). So a less-is-more approach was taken, creating one of the most chilling scenes in movie history. #Ja
