This is my patient rehabbing from IT Band Syndrome (ITBS), a common overuse injury in runners that causes pain along the outer knee or hip. The IT band runs from the pelvis to the tibia and plays a crucial role in stabilizing the hip and knee. When we did a running gait analysis, we noticed some knee valgus from poor hip strength and a crossover gait. ⚫ IT band issues? Don't *just* roll it, exercise the hip instead. These are just a few exercises to the muscles around the hip that control the IT band. The IT band is a tissue that isn't likely going to change by rolling on it. That being said you can roll on it if that helps give pain relief. But it's not going to stretch anything.
