REMEMBERING GUSTAV - It was on this date 17 years ago that Gustav made landfall near Cocodrie as a Category 2 hurricane with max winds around 110 miles per hour. Baton Rouge registered a peak gust of 91 mph, rivaling what was recorded for Betsy (92 mph) in 1965. It easily surpassed the peak gust of 70 mph registered for Andrew in 1992.
