Francesco Zanin was called the ”Canaletto of the 19th century” thanks to his popular and high-quality paintings. He was active in Venice between 1851 – 1888. Beside these facts, only little is known about the biography of the painter. He is considered one of the most important representatives of the historicising vedute in the style of the 18th century, with recourse to Canaletto's painting style.
