Throughout the month, we will introduce you to some of our City employees who will share what Black History Month means to them. Black History Month, also known as African American History Month, grew out of “Negro History Week,” the brainchild of historian Carter G. Woodson and other prominent African Americans. Since 1976, every U.S. president has designated February as Black History Month.
