Class 43 train leaving St. Erth station in the way to Penzance. Power cars 43187 and 43156. These power cars had their previous Paxman Valenta engines replaced with the more efficient, and quieter, MTU engines. Sadly, that means they no longer ‘scream’ as their engines start the acceleration process. Probably a good thing for people living near the railway stations, but it does mean these class 43 power cars are somewhat neutered compared to when they were in their raucous prime! | Adrian Watson
