A depressingly large number of jackasses back then were just lazily trying to copy Liefeld (and Jim Lee and Todd Mcfarlane and Whilce Portacio etc.), and that's just so much worse in my opinion. But Liefeld was and is the best known, and thus the biggest easiest target, while those who got a paycheck for copying him are (deservedly) unknown.

Feb 5, 2024 · What If young Rob hadn't taken up the challenge of transforming a title that was headed towards cancellation is one of the better alternate universe tales. It certainly transformed my young career, creating opportunities and record breaking sales for New Mutants & X-Force.

Look up "Liefeld" on comicartfans.com. His raw pencils are better. But the best thing Rob's ever done (imo) is getting people hyped about comics. That's his gift.
