Billy Joel has opened up about his father and his family’s holocaust history in the second part of his HBO documentary, titled And So It Goes.

"I’m tipping over sacred cows all my life. I like to do that," he said as he sat by his piano. "There is a code within the music itself that has nothing to do with the words, that takes you to this place, if it’s done right." This then led the "Piano Man" singer to talk about his love for classical music.

Susan Lacy told “Good Morning America” that Billy Joel is battling back from the buildup of fluid in his brain that forced him to stop performing.

Out of those dark days, Joel wrote the songs that comprised his debut, Cold Spring Harbor (1971). Due to a tape-playback error in mastering and later overdubs to correct the mistakes, the best parts of the album must be retrieved from other resources today.
