BEAVERCREEK, Ore. (KATU) — A significant brush fire broke out at 23254 S Ridge Road in Beavercreek, Oregon, escalating to a three-alarm status, on Monday evening. According to a Clackamas Fire spokesperson, the fire engulfed a barn. Firefighters worked to keep the fire from spreading beyond the barn and quickly put out a spot fire.
At about 2 p.m., crews responded to a report of a car that had gone about 40-feet down an embankment off of South Redland Road in Oregon City. Crews arrived to the scene and found a car on its side with a woman trapped inside.
Earlier this summer, the federal government took back over a billion dollars that was already promised to conservation groups, farmers and ranchers. In Oregon, some of those grants would have gone to wildfire mitigation in forests and rangelands.
A fire weather watch was issued for Thursday, Aug. 21, while an extreme heat watch was issued for Aug. 22-24 for Eugene and Springfield.
