The series by creator Noah Hawley is described as a spin-off to the original Ridley Scott-directed film, " Alien ," from 1979. The film follows a space crew aboard the starship, Nostromo, who are on their journey back home when they receive a distress call from an alien vessel.

Earth a simple but accurate nickname. Alien: Earth is the latest entry in the expansive Alien franchise. Noah Hawley, who previously wrote and directed episodes of TV shows such as Fargo and Legion, developed the series for FX and FX on Hulu.
"Earth" smacks you in the face with all things "Alien" from its very first moments, describing a capitalist world controlled by corporations instead of governments, and bringing us to a deep space research vessel with sleep pods and a congenial crew. Nothing could possibly go wrong with all the vicious alien specimens on board, right?
