U.S. President Donald Trump thinks there's a better use for Alcatraz than its current role as one of San Francisco's top tourist attractions: He wants to return the island in San Francisco Bay to its original role as a maximum security prison.

On a Monday morning visit to Alcatraz, foreign tourists were only slightly less critical of the president's plan to make it a federal penitentiary again than the Democratic pols who run San Francisco.
