A freshman cornerback for Pittsburgh’s football team is dead after a car crash in Indiana, the team announced. Mason Alexander died in Fishers on Saturday night. He was 18.

A student-athlete who committed to the University of Pittsburgh's football program died on Saturday in a car crash in the state of Indiana. He was identified as Mason Alexander. Alexander was the passenger in a car that attempted to pass another vehicle just before the top of a hill when another vehicle came the opposite way and struck the car that Alexander was in.

FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) — After trying to pass another vehicle and swerving to avoid a collision, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said a fatal car crash killed a beloved Hamilton Southeastern High School student who recently signed to play football at the University of Pittsburgh.
