The same system that is set to cause a severe weather threat across the Deep South this week is also expected to cause a significant winter weather threat from the Rockies to the Upper Midwest. The system has been named Winter Storm Lola by The Weather Channel.

Winter Storm Lola will serve as a reminder that astronomical winter has not yet ended. The system will bring the threat of heavy snow and blizzard conditions to the Central Plains and Great Lakes early to midweek.

Storm Lola is heading to the Central Plains and Midwest. The storm will bring some severe winter weather. Several alerts have been issued by the National Weather Service, including warnings of blizzards in northeast Colorado and western Nebraska.

A classic springtime storm will pack high winds and snowfall in the Plains and Midwest, resulting in blizzard conditions for some areas early this week.

Blizzard Warnings are in place for parts of the western half of the state tonight through noon Wednesday. A Winter Weather Advisory for much of central and eastern Nebraska Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday.

Blizzard warnings are in effect as Winter Storm Lola could bring a half a foot of snow and wind gusts up to 65 mph in parts of the Plains. Whiteout conditions are expected in parts of Nebraska and Colorado along Interstate 80 and Interstate 76.
