The Allegheny County Health Department announced on Monday that it had identified the first human case of West Nile virus in 2025.

The individual lives in Plum Borough, an East Hills suburb of Pittsburgh. They are recovering at home, according to the county, and no further details about their identity are expected to be released.

A Plum resident’s fever, malaise and digestive trouble since mid-July was confirmed to be the first human case of West Nile this year, according to the Allegheny County Health Department. The person’s name and gender were not released,

The Allegheny County Health Department says the spraying will take place between 8 and 11 p.m. in: Chartiers, Sheraden, Crafton Heights, Elliot, Crafton and Ingram.
