BlackRock has added the iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), the fund issued by the asset manager that holds bitcoin (BTC), to one of its model portfolios. These models suggest portfolios and rebalances which are then followed by advisors and platforms who can also request adjustments to the models based on their investment needs.

The addition sounds risky at a time of cratering bitcoin prices, but the asset management titan says advisor demand is strong.

BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager, is including its Bitcoin ETF in a sliver of its Target Allocation with Alternatives portfolios.

BlackRock incorporates Bitcoin into its $150 billion model portfolios with a cautious 1%-2% allocation to the iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF.

BlackRock, a global investment firm with $11.5 trillion in assets under management, has added its Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) to its model portfolio product, according to a Feb. 28 report from Bloomberg.
