A Phoenix police officer working as a school safety officer at Maryvale High School was alerted of an assault in one of the classrooms, police said.

Phoenix city officials gathered in Maryvale on the afternoon of Aug. 19, hours after a stabbing at Maryvale High School resulted in the death of one student.
