An executive order signed by Governor Mike Braun, will expand Indiana's paid parental leave for state employees.

Braun signed an order on Monday that will give all employed women who give birth six weeks of paid childbirth recovery leave, according to a news release from Braun's office.

New moms employed by the state of Indiana will now get an additional six weeks of paid leave for “childbirth recovery,” or eight weeks for employees who gave birth via a cesarean section.

The order provides six weeks of paid childbirth recovery leave for women who give birth and up to eight weeks for those who deliver via C-section.

Under the executive order, all women employed by the state of Indiana can get six weeks of paid "childbirth recovery leave." That leave expands to eight weeks if the employee delivered via C-section. This also applies for stillbirths and miscarriages that happen at 20 weeks or longer.
