While President Donald Trump has made a point of going after drug cartels, the Mexican government says U.S. gunmakers should be held liable for violence caused by their weapons in Mexico.

The U.S. Supreme Court was set on Tuesday to hear a bid by two American gun companies to throw out the Mexican government's lawsuit accusing them of aiding illegal firearms trafficking to drug cartels and fueling gun violence in the southern neighbor of the United States.

The Supreme Court is set to consider the Mexican government's effort to hold U.S. gun companies accountable for violence involving trafficked firearms.
