Attack comes days after Trump gave ‘last warning’ to Hamas, as analysts warn Washington will be seen as complicit.

Qatar official also says his nation was grateful when the Trump administration joined other countries in condemning the Israeli airstrike on Qatari soil last week.

The White House issued a sharp rebuke of Israel's unprecedented airstrike in Qatar targeting Hamas leaders, criticizing the location of the attack.

President Donald Trump "immediately directed special envoy Witkoff to inform the Qataris of the impending attack" in Doha on Tuesday, the White House said.

US lawmakers and Jewish groups were split on the unprecedented strike amid fears that Hamas leaders may have survived.

“As President Trump stated, the U.S. Military informed him of Israel’s attack on Hamas leaders in Doha, and he immediately directed his Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to inform Qatar,” press secretary Karoline Leavitt told Axios.
