The Clemson Tigers defeated the South Carolina Gamecocks, 5-3, in the first game of their annual three-game Palmetto Series on Friday night.

The Tigers built a quick 4-0 lead Friday and held on for the win. The series shifts to Fluor Field in Greenville on Saturday.

Clemson head coach Erik Bakich didn’t hesitate when asked about the upcoming rivalry series against South Carolina.“It’s the best rivalry in college baseball, bar-none,” Bakich said Tuesday after the Tigers’ win over Winthrop.
