It was a split-squad day for the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday. The Pirates hosted the Baltimore Orioles at LECOM Park in Bradenton and were on the road to face the Atlanta Braves in CoolToday Park in North Port.
The real star of the win over the Pirates was Eli White. The outfielder, who has spent the last two seasons with Atlanta after beginning his career with the Texas Rangers, started in center field for the Braves. He went 3-for-3 as the lead off hitter.
The Braves didn’t spend for any of the top available set-up men during the offseason, but team officials have confidence in this group.
