Sen. Dick Durbin expressed doubts about U.S. Attorney General nominee Pam Bondi in a series of posts on X Friday morning.

Ill., questioned U.S. attorney general nominee Pam Bondi in a confirmation hearing Wednesday held by the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Durbin also inquired as to her position on possible pardons for Jan. 6 participants. Bondi indicated that pardons fell under the president's purview but that she would advise Trump on a "case by case basis.

Lawmakers raised concerns about the Florida attorney general’s previous work for the president-elect and support for his efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election — as well as lobbying services she provided for the government of Qatar.

Pam Bondi sought to allay the concerns of Democrats who said they feared Trump and his allies would use the Justice Department to target their political enemies.

"Senator Rubio and I share many similar views on foreign policy and as a result, have worked closely together in the Senate to move forward with legislation regarding human rights around the world, the continued threat of China, and the recent sham election in Venezuela," Durbin said in the statement.

Trump wants to dish out pardons among the more than 1,500 defendants charged or convicted for the riot, plans that Senate Republicans are reluctant to embrace.
