PAGASA: Uwan weakens into typhoon, Signal No. 4 up in 13 areas
Super Typhoon Uwan has now weakened into a typhoon with Signal No. 4, as the highest tropical cyclone warning signal hoisted over 13 areas in Northern and Central Luzon, the state weather bureau said early Monday morning.
Super Typhoon Uwan made landfall in Aurora, striking Luzon with 185 km/h winds. The storm is now traversing the mountains, bringing storm surge and TCWS No. 5 threats.
Typhoon Uwan (Fung-Wong) is rapidly intensifying, projected to make landfall over Isabela/Aurora Sunday night. Pagasa raised TCWS No. 1 over parts of Mindanao (Dinagat, Surigao) and warned of life-threatening storm surges up to three meters.
