In the final days and weeks leading up to the 2025 NFL draft, there was little doubt who the Tennessee Titans would take with the No. 1 overall pick — star quarterback Cam Ward. Ward’s journey to the NFL was anything but typical.

Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Cam Ward made a point to text each of the 2025 draftees to congratulate them on joining the NFL.

According to NFL.com, the former Miami standout asked permission from Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon about a month ago if he could use No. 1 as his jersey number. Tennessee retired it in 2006 in honor of Moon, who starred for the Houston Oilers, the precursor of the Titans.
