A combination of high winds and large waves pose a rip current threat for beaches on the Atlantic side of Long Island today.
The strong northeasterly winds are back. Bringing white capped waves, a high risk for Rip Currents and possible flooding at times of high tide. The Rip Current risk will continue through late Tuesday and the Coastal Flood Advisory continues through early Wednesday. This may be extended as the northeast wind continues this week.
An updated rip current statement was issued by the National Weather Service on Monday at 4:35 p.m. in effect until Wednesday at 8 p.m. for Monmouth, Cape May, Atlantic and Ocean counties.
On Monday at 7:39 p.m. the NWS Wilmington NC issued a rip current statement valid for Tuesday between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. for Coastal New Hanover.
At 11:44 p.m. on Sunday, the National Weather Service released a rip current statement valid from Tuesday 6 a.m. until Wednesday 6 p.m. for Mobile and Baldwin counties.
