COLUMBIA, S.C. (WBTV) - A college student survived getting hit by a train in South Carolina over the weekend, police said. The Oct. 25 collision happened just after noon on Saturday on the tracks going under Blossom Street, on the edge of the University of South Carolina’s campus in Columbia.

The student was a pedestrian who was walking in the 600 block of Blossom Street when he was hit by the CSX Transportation freight train, according to police. That’s near USC’s downtown Columbia campus, close to the intersection with Huger Street and the Greek Village.
