After basking in dry, mild weather for several weeks, the tide is turning for California, with an onslaught of rain, snow and wind expected over Christmas week as a series of atmospheric rivers unleash a firehose of moisture on the Golden State.

Saturday is your day to prepare for snow. Break out the snow shovel, fill up the gas tank, get some groceries, and fire up the snow blower. Sunday will start with some early snow but it will stop early. The winds and biting cold will also prompt you to get the heavy winter gear out.

A strong Pacific cold front brings strong winds, rain and snow to the northern Rockies today. Temperatures will be falling through the day behind the cold front.
