The Senate narrowly confirmed Kash Patel, a Trump loyalist and a critic of the FBI, as the bureau’s director in a 51-49 vote on Thursday afternoon. Republican Sens. Susan Collins (Maine) and Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) joined all Democrats in opposition. Each of the past three FBI directors garnered the votes of at least 92 senators.

Attorney General Pam Bondi on Friday swore in Kash Patel as FBI director in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building in Washington, D.C. Earlier Thursday the Senate had voted to confirm Patel as director.
