The game turned on an unusual play. After KSU took a 47-35 lead on Joe Jackson’s third rushing touchdown of the game, the Wildcats went for 2, but Utah’s Tao Johnson intercepted a tipped ball and returned it to the Kansas State end zone for 2 points to make it 47-37.
K-State rushed for a program-record 472 yards, while Joe Jackson broke Darren Sproles' single-game record with 293 yards, but it wasn't enough. Utah quarterback Devon Dampier ran in the game-winning touchdown with 56 seconds left.
Kansas football sits at 5-5 heading into its third and final bye week, needing to win one of its next two games to reach bowl eligibility. The Jayhawks missed out on their first opportunity to do so in Tucson on Saturday,
