The Timberwolves are playing their first game in the third annual NBA Cup on Friday night against the Utah Jazz. In addition to looking to bounce back from Wednesday's loss and start stacking some wins in the regular season standings, the Wolves will also be hoping to advance out of the group stage of the Cup for the first time.

Anthony Edwards is all in on the NBA Cup. Well, kind of. After dropping 37 points in a blowout win over the Utah Jazz on Friday night, the Timberwolves star spoke about his team’s mindset heading into the tournament and admitted he’s still not entirely sure how the whole thing works.

If ever there was a get-right game for the Timberwolves, it was Friday night against Utah. The Wolves made quick work of the Jazz in a 137-97 victory. The Wolves won their first game of the NBA Cup, the league’s in-season tournament.

The Timberwolves are the lucky owners of maybe the loudest unique court in all its bright green glory. Minnesota hosted the Jazz at Target Center on Friday night in the Wolves’ first group-stage game. Trees are set within the court’s design, but the neon was the undeniable focus of the floor’s debut.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have played in the last two NBA Western Conference Finals, fueled by the play of superstar Anthony Edwards.

In his first game of the season against a suspected tanking team, Edwards scored 29 of his 37 points in the first half as Minnesota pummeled Utah 137-97 in Minneapolis in the team’s NBA Cup group play opener on the fluorescent green Target Center floor.

The Timberwolves are set to face the Jazz in the NBA Cup group stage play, and Anthony Edwards is on the injury report.

Minnesota played the most clutch games last season, going 20-26 in those situations. In 2025-26, it hopes to improve upon that stat.
