A pall of acrid smoke hung over Kyiv on Friday morning following a night of intensive Russian strikes - the hours of darkness once again punctuated by the staccato of air defence guns, buzz of drones and large explosions.

Russia unleased a wave of missile and drone attacks on Kyiv overnight just hours after a call between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. Twenty three people were injured and several buildings damaged in the assault.

President Donald Trump stated that his recent discussion with Russian President Vladimir Putin yielded no advancements towards a ceasefire in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.
