U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said the nation's southern border walls will be painted black to better repel anyone who might try to scale them.

U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced Tuesday that President Donald Trump wants some 600-plus miles of the border barrier with Mexico painted black.

U.S. Border Patrol Chief Mike Banks, who attended the event with Noem, said the paint would also help deter rust.
