Israel's military targeted and killed five Al Jazeera journalists in Gaza on Sunday, including Al Jazeera correspondent Anas al-Sharif.

Local health officials in Gaza say Israeli forces have killed at least 55 people overnight, including a well-known journalist who Israel said was a militant and people who witnesses say were seeking humanitarian aid.

The Al Jazeera media company said in a Sunday statement that five of its journalists -- including correspondent Anas Al Sharif -- were killed in an Israeli airstrike.
