Israel's defence minister has greenlit a military plan to seize Gaza City and mobilised 60,000 reservists, amid renewed ceasefire talks and mounting international pressure.
Israeli army attacks killed 33 civilians, including children, in the Gaza Strip since early Wednesday amid military escalation in Gaza City, according to medical sources. A medical source told Anadolu three people were killed and 10 others injured in an Israeli strike on a house in Jabalia al-Nazla town, northern Gaza Strip.
Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz has approved the military's plan to take over Gaza City and authorised the call-up of around 50,000 reservists to carry it out, his ministry has confirmed.
Israel is in discussions with South Sudan about the possibility of resettling Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to the war-torn East African country, part of a wider effort by Israel to facilitate mass emigration from the territory left in ruins by its 22-month offensive against Hamas.
It comes a day after Hamas said it accepted a proposal for a 60-day truce, during which around half of the 50 hostages would be freed.
