Tropical Storm Fernand formed in the Atlantic on Saturday a few hundred miles south-southeast of Bermuda and is expected to continue to strengthen through Sunday while it travels north.

Tropical Storm Fernand formed in the open ocean, hundreds of miles from any land Saturday afternoon, hurricane forecasters say. Another system is also being tracked that has low chances of becoming a tropical storm next week.

The storm is expected to "move well east of Bermuda and across the open waters of the subtropical North Atlantic," the National Hurricane Center said.
